1. Introduction
Track iT ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting the privacy and security of the personal and financial information you share with us. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and what rights you have over your data. By using the Track iT platform, you agree to the practices described in this Policy.
This Policy applies to all pages and services accessible via the Track iT website without exception—including the homepage, authentication and login screens, public blog, financial tools, and all logged-in user and administrative dashboards.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information in the following categories depending on how you interact with the Platform:
- Account Information: When you register, we collect your name, email address, and a securely hashed (bcrypt) password. We do not store plaintext passwords at any point.
- Financial and Transaction Data: Records of income, expenses, categories, budgets, savings goals, and notes that you voluntarily enter into your private dashboard. This data is stored securely in an isolated database and is never accessible to third parties.
- Usage and Technical Data: IP address, browser type, device characteristics, operating system, and pages visited across the entire website to help us understand site performance and user experience.
- Cookie and Tracking Data: We use cookies and similar tracking technologies across the entire website (including homepage, login pages, and logged-in user dashboards) for analytics and advertising purposes. See Section 5 for full details.
3. How We Use Your Information
Your information is used exclusively for the following purposes:
- To create and manage your account, authenticate your sessions, and deliver your personalized financial dashboard.
- To generate automated spending insights, charts, budget alerts, and goal progress reports tailored to your data.
- To secure the Platform against unauthorized access, fraud, and abuse.
- To improve our features, fix bugs, and understand how users interact with the Platform.
- To display contextual and personalized advertisements across our content and dashboard pages—including the homepage, public blog and educational tool sections, and logged-in user and administrative dashboards—through trusted third-party ad networks such as Google AdSense.
4. Your Financial Data Is Private
Your personal financial records — including all transactions, budget limits, income entries, and savings goals stored in your logged-in dashboard — are treated with the highest level of confidentiality.
We do not sell, rent, license, share, or expose your private financial transaction data to any third-party advertisers, data brokers, credit bureaus, financial institutions, or analytics providers. Your financial ledger is yours alone.
5. Google AdSense and Third-Party Advertising Across the Website
To sustain the free availability and continuous development of the Track iT platform, we display third-party advertisements via Google AdSense Auto Ads. Advertisements may be dynamically placed and shown across rich content areas of the platform—including the homepage, public blog and financial tools sections, user dashboard interfaces, transaction management screens, and administrative layouts. To maintain the highest quality ad inventory, advertisements are strictly disabled on non-content form pages such as user login, registration, and password recovery interfaces.
While advertisements appear across the whole website including logged-in dashboards, your private financial ledger records—such as individual transaction amounts, budget figures, balances, and personal notes—remain strictly private, encrypted at rest, and completely inaccessible to any advertising network, advertiser, or tracking script.
- Track iT participates in the Google AdSense program. Google and its advertising partners use cookies, including the DoubleClick DART cookie, to deliver advertisements based on a user's visits to our entire website and other sites across the Internet.
- These advertising cookies operate strictly at the browser presentation layer across all pages and are never linked to, combined with, or granted access to your encrypted financial records stored in our database.
- Opt Out of Personalized Ads: You can opt out of Google's personalized advertising at any time by visiting Google Ad Settings or the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page at optout.networkadvertising.org.
6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use two distinct categories of cookies:
- Essential Cookies: Strictly necessary for the Platform to function. These include your login session token, CSRF protection tokens, and theme preference (light/dark mode). These cookies do not track you for advertising purposes and cannot be disabled without breaking core functionality.
- Advertising and Analytics Cookies: Used across our content and application sections (homepage, public blog/tool pages, and logged-in user dashboards). These cookies allow Google AdSense and our analytics providers to measure traffic and display relevant advertisements throughout these content interfaces. You can manage or opt out of these via your browser settings or the opt-out links above.
7. Data Sharing and Third Parties
We do not sell your personal data. We may share limited, non-financial information with the following trusted service providers, solely to operate and improve the Platform:
- Google AdSense / Google Analytics: For automated advertisement delivery and site traffic analytics across our active content pages (homepage, public blog/tools, and logged-in user dashboards).
- Hosting Provider: Our web hosting provider has access to server infrastructure but does not have access to application-level user data.
We do not share your data with any third parties beyond what is described here, unless legally required to do so by a valid court order or law enforcement request.
8. Your Rights and Data Control
You retain full ownership and control over your personal data. At any time, you may:
- Access your data: View all your transactions, budgets, and account information directly from your dashboard.
- Export your data: Download a CSV or PDF export of your transaction history from the Reports section.
- Delete your account: Request permanent deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us at the email below. We will process deletion within 14 business days.
- Withdraw cookie consent: Clear your browser cookies or manage preferences through your browser settings at any time.
9. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including bcrypt password hashing, CSRF token protection on all forms, HttpOnly and SameSite session cookies, prepared SQL statements to prevent injection attacks, and server-side session timeout enforcement. While no system is completely immune to risk, we take every reasonable measure to safeguard your information.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. When significant changes are made, we will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this Policy periodically.
11. Contact Us
If you have questions, concerns, or requests relating to this Privacy Policy, your data, or your rights, please contact our privacy team at privacy@trackit.com. We aim to respond to all privacy-related inquiries within 5 business days.
